Consultant Urological Surgeon GMC:3683914Mr Neil Haldar is a Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in robotic prostatectomy, uro-oncology and paediatric urology procedures. He practises in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, West Herts and London, and treats patients from across the UK and internationally for specialist care and second opinions.
He has over 25 years’ experience in urological surgery and has performed more than 1,000 nerve-sparing radical prostatectomies and over 600 laparoscopic kidney operations. He is highly experienced in minimally invasive and robotic techniques, with a particular focus on achieving excellent cancer control while preserving quality of life.
Mr Haldar is one of the few urological surgeons in the UK who offers both robotic and open prostatectomy, allowing him to treat patients who may not be suitable for robotic surgery, including those with previous abdominal surgery or complex anatomy.
He trained at King’s College Medical School and completed his specialist urological training in Oxford. He was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons Allinson Foundation Research Fellowship and completed a Master’s degree in transplant surgery. He subsequently undertook fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic, USA, and in Nantes, France, developing advanced expertise in laparoscopic urology.
Mr Haldar has held senior clinical leadership roles including Clinical Lead for Laparoscopic Urology and Urology Cancer Lead at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. He introduced the da Vinci robotic prostate surgery programme at the Trust and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive prostate cancer care, including surgery, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, systemic treatments and active surveillance where appropriate.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Haldar provides independent medico-legal opinions in urology. He accepts instructions from solicitors, insurers and medico-legal agencies in clinical negligence, personal injury, delayed cancer diagnosis, urological trauma, surgical complications, consent, causation, condition and prognosis cases.
